Remind your children that they cannot control what people do with their texts, emails, comments, photos and videos once it goes public. Help your children build and protect their image, and become responsible cyber-citizens by reviewing these Cyber Etiquette tips with them:

o Pause and think before clicking “send” “share” or “post”. A post is a display or notice in a public place. Anything you post online becomes public and leaves a cyber-footprint. No exceptions. Even emails and private messages can go public. Even if you delete it, it can be traced back to you. o Proofread. Rewrite your post if it could be misunderstood. Avoid using shortcuts others may not be familiar with. o Have your parents review your photos and videos. If your parents do not approve, do not post. Never post private information, images or videos about or from others without their consent. o Keep the Golden Rule. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. o There are real people on the other side of the screen. Communicate courteously as you would face-to-face. Avoid ALL CAPS. It is seen as cyber-yelling. o Do not post when you are upset. Take time to clear your head, so as not to post things you might regret. o Never post derogatory, insulting or controversial comments, or encourage violent activity. The person or organization may take action. o Do not reply to a post meant to insult or cyber-bully you. The person who posted will stop if they do not get any reaction. Let your parents know immediately. o Stay away from strangers. Do not share personal information including your full name and phone number, names of family members, where you live and where you study. o Cyber-technology is meant to be used for all to benefit, and not abused. Set a time for staying online. Strike a balance between reaching out online and interacting face to face.

On the first day of March, the U.S. Potato Board kicks off USPotatobilities at top restaurants in the splendid Queen City of the South! Try the piquant USPotato rendition of Cebu’s creative chefs!  I tried them all when I hopped on a USPotato Safari.  I’ll tell you which ones are the must-try’s.

Cafe Marco at Marco Polo Hotel.  Chef Stefano Verrillo prepared a unique wine dinner.  We had Crispy US Potato Bread Roll on US Potato Skin–very crispy on the outside, soft  and chewy inside. For our palate-break, I was awed just by looking at the US Potato Faberge Egg sorbet—Granny Smith apple rolled in US Potato Skin and lemon.  And, it’s really refreshing!  For soup lovers, the layered flavors of Fish Chowder blended with puree of US Frozen Potato was exquisite. Chef Stefano reminded us in his baritone voice to “try not to mix the soup, so you get to savor each layer.”

The Okoy de Patatas was a wonderful surprise! All hands were on the table, crazily dipping the okoy in vinegar.  It’s really meant for sharing, but when you taste it, you’d want to have it all for yourself! As a dessert lover, I can’t say no to Buchi Halaya and Ube Patatas Halaya. How ingenious!
